She changed the stakes on us. Rory, a normally agreeable and easily disciplined little girl, entered the world of 2 years old and decided she would try on a new persona...some refer to it as the terrible twos...we often find ourselves saying, "what the heck?" She has discovered that some inanimate objects do in fact belong to her and chooses to advertise this fact by bluntly saying "mine" when referring to many of these items. This becomes an even more important fact to convey when another short person tries to touch said item. Then the "mine" gets louder and her grip on the item becomes death-like. She's surprisingly strong. There's also the crying jags, and the "No, I don't want to!" Needless to say Brad and I have looked at each other a few times and said, "What the heck?"
Last night in the bathtub as she fussed through yet another washing in the bathtub (a pasttime which used to bring joy rather than sorrow), I looked at her and said, "Where's my sweet little girl?" She shot me a crooked smile for a few seconds and then proclaimed, "There she is!"

Ooops. Shall I continue to post the same comment twice?
It's so nice. I wanna feel the same thing twice. That's sublime. Bored at work. Goodness.
