big weight jump

Today was another appointment with my midwife to check on the little one. I gained 6 1/2 pounds. It's not surprising as I have been sooooo hungry recently. I'm trying to snack healthily most of the time...and I try not to beat myself up about the "treats" I indulge in either. The midwife kept saying that we were "looking for this weight gain" and "both you and the baby need this weight." I know she was trying to make me feel comfortable with the significant jump in weight since I hadn't been gaining much with this pregnancy. But really I feel fine about it. It means the baby is growing and getting stronger...it's a welcome thought after experiencing a miscarriage last summer.

Since I won't be able to visit the midwives during June, I'm seeing them on May 30th and as early as possible in July. It'll be interesting to see how much weight I gain after eating Young Life camp food for an entire month! Then I might need some serious encouraging.

Got to hear the heartbeat for a fleeting moment today also. This baby is a mover and the midwive had to chase him/her around for quite awhile before finally getting a quick listen. She had just enough time to say, "Sounds good," before the baby was off and "running" again. She chuckled and said, "You weren't kidding when you said this kid moves a lot."
