For three years now, we've met college friends at a lake house in south MO. I'm really glad we have started this tradition. This year we wised up and left our kids with the grandparents. They had fun and we actually relaxed. The guys played golf two days in a row, we laid out with our eyes closed without worrying about a kid jumping off the deck. We ate meals together, never once looking over to wipe up, clean off, or cut up a bite for one of our children. There was uninterrupted conversation, and lots of laughter. There were s'mores each and every night we were there.
Here is the group from this year. The Maggios, the McQuearys and us. (There are usually 4 couples...we missed the Haynes this year as they stayed at home to wait for baby Henry.)

Becca and Chris cheated and brought a kid...but since it's still cooking, we let it slide.

Billy and Brad were trying to roast a fudge round over the campfire...it didn't work.
