I made water in the potty!

Wednesday was much better! By lunch I had two phone calls from Rory announcing she had "made water on the potty!" There were only a couple accidents. She even woke up from her nap dry.

Brad was in much better spirits yesterday evening. He had discovered that Rory could care less about a bowl full of candy rewards after using the potty. What she wanted was to watch t.v. He started rewarding her with 15 minutes of t.v. when she used the potty, and candy whenever they checked to see if she was dry in between. By the end of the day she started running to the bathroom, peeing, and then announcing to Brad, "Turn on the t.v. daddy! I made water!" We had a t.v.-watching, peeing monster...

Brad decided to turn on the t.v. (no more rewards for using the potty, just for being dry in between) and watch what happened. They were watching a movie together and putting together a puzzle when Rory said, "I have to go potty daddy." Big victory!

I got home around dinnertime and witnessed her new skill a couple times before bedtime. She is soooo excited to use the big girl potty. She loves using her own special wipes, flushing the toilet, and washing her hands with her own special foamy soap. It doesn't hurt that every time she has a success we cheer like she just got elected president.

Today has been good. This morning she woke up wet (she wears Pull-Ups during naps and at night). I took her right to the bathroom...success. She is consistently starting to ask to use the potty instead of always waiting for us to initiate. There have been two accidents so far. I just can't believe it is going so well. I do anticipate many more accidents...but I have to celebrate...it's so much better than I expected.

We haven't forgotten about the little bundle we call Emme G! She and I trekked up to Lee's Summit for her 6 month check-up today. 15 lbs 2 oz! She's right about the 40th percentile for both weight and length...75th for head circumference...big brain! It was a frustrating visit. Smack dab in the middle of naptime...40 minute wait for the doctor...another 15 minute wait for the shots...about 70 minutes total in the office...15 minutes of actual face-time with a nurse or doctor. Emme was crying from exhaustion and then had to endure three shots. Those of you who have witnessed it, you know there is no cry like the cry of an infant getting shots...it's pathetic, and heart-breaking.

Life goes on...my house needs a good cleaning...Emme starts veggies this week and can say "da da da" and "ta ta ta"...Brad is preparing for our annual fundraising banquet...we still don't know where we're moving and what we'll be doing after we leave Harrisonville...luckily we don't have too much time to worry about it since we're busy making sure Rory doesn't pee on anything...life goes on.

Don't know if you remember us but Katie and I love reading your stories about Rory. She sounds like she'd be great at welcoming students to chapel just like her mom. Glad to see you're doing well.
