Big girl panties

Tomorrow is a big day in the Anderson household. Emme and I are leaving town so Brad and Rory can give all their attention to the task of learning how to use the big girl potty. If you're thinking, "This isn't typically a job for the dad?" You're right. However, the technique we're trying is one in which everyone else needs to leave the house for a couple of days. Since Emme is still nursing, I kind of need to be with her...so we're getting booted. Luckily, I have a terrific husband who is happy to take on the challenge.

Yesterday afternoon we made a special trip to Wal-Mart to buy some of the "stuff" needed. Rory picked out salty snacks (to increase her thirst), sugary drinks (to increase her need to use the potty), foamy handsoap and wet wipes just for kids, and of course, Rory's very own big girl panties.

We walked down the aisle to find the display of underwear covered with prints of Tinkerbell, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Dora the Explorer, and flowers. I picked out a few options for Rory to choose from, laid them out in front of her, and asked the big question, "Rory, which panties do you want to take home?" Rory surveyed the choices and promptly replied, "I want these mom! Let's put these in the basket!" There she stood holding boys' underwear with one of her favorite cartoon characters on the package.

Rory will be learning how to use the big girl potty with the help of her daddy and Go Diego Go!

P.S. Thank goodness I have girls...I'm thinking I wouldn't think it as humorous if my son had just picked out Tinkerbell underpants...

Good luck. Thought you might enjoy the humor... Greggory has those same underwear.
