Saturday was Emme's first bath. She did very well, which is good since I don't know what I would've done with her screaming the entire time. All the firsts are different with a second child. Rory's first bath was a huge event. Both Brad and I were completely focused and took tons of pictures. This time it was all we could do to take a handful of photos while wrangling Rory and washing Emme. It's almost sad that we can't devote as much time to our second daughter as we did to our first. It's not that the moments aren't as special...we just don't have the chance to savor them as we did the first time around. All the more reason to take pictures I guess...someday when we're not walking around half asleep, we'll need the pictures to remember all the big days with our second little girl. :)
Emme is starting to try and "speak" to us. Sometimes when I'm changing her diaper she'll make little coos and gurgles. It's very cute and fun to think of her wanting to communicate with us. I am also convinced that we had our first real smile last Thursday. I was talking to her during one of her alert times during the day and she smiled. She has the best dimples. Her face usually looks so serious. Her brow is constantly furrowed. But when she's sleeping and when she smiles, her little forhead relaxes and the cutest little face is revealed.
