most embarrassing moment

Here's a photo of Rory from a Feb. trip to the park. And a photo of the YL building I talked about in an earlier post.

I went to a baby shower Saturday for a friend of mine from when I worked at William Jewell. Mary Catherine was expecting her baby in April...he arrived in late February. (It caught me off guard to think that if I hadn't had a miscarriage, I too would have been expecting in April.) He's doing great...needs to learn how to eat on his own before he can go home. It was fun to see her. I also got to catch up with a couple of other Jewell-made friends. It was so good to see them again. Ah, the good ole days. :)

After dinner that night I went to a high-school friend's birthday party. I gave her every opportunity to opt out of having a 27 year old pregnant lady at a party with her friends...but she kept inviting me. It was so sweet of her to include me, so I went. Let me just say, there are a few places I should no longer be as a 27 year old pregnant lady...a high school party is one of those places. I'm pretty sure I made most everybody uncomfortable. Even people who I know love me were surprised to see me there. I stayed for a little under an hour (including the time I spent upstairs chatting with her parents...great people.) After that I thought I better leave before I ran everybody else off...who wants to be at a party with me there? Her mom came down to the basement with a video camera to capture the moment. She asked for wisdom or life advice. I thought to further exagerate my obvious out-of-placeness I'd say, "Wait a very long time before you get pregnant." Good advice for a teenager I think. :)

Today was church and then bunches of work on stuff for our fundraising banquet tomorrow night. Pray Pray Pray! We need to raise quite a bit of money to keep the ministry in Cass County out of the red. Pray for generous hearts, schedules to stay clear so people can come, people to remember, and for an interesting evening.

Might have to sleep through thunder tonight...hope Rory stays asleep.
