Final batch of Castaway pics

Here are some more photos from our last days at Castaway.

We made the drive home on Sunday (left at 8 am and got home at 9:30pm after a nice long dinner stop at MeeMaw's (Brad's mom) house), and I think Rory finally has her sleep schedule back on track. She has been running a fever since Saturday. No other symptoms other than being pretty lethargic. Her appetite is still good, no vomiting, congestion, or coughing. Just an incredibly snuggly Rory with a little fever. Brad loves the extra cuddle time since she's not one for sitting on our laps for more than a few minutes normally.

Remember when I mentioned the sheets at camp were better than ours at home? Sunday night I crawled into bed after a long day of traveling and was sad to find the difference was even worse than I remembered. Our sheets are terrible! The next morning I went out and spent a little bit more money to buy medium-quality sheets that don't feel like sandpaper. Money well spent as last night's sleep was much more enjoyable. Nothing like a month on good sheets to make you appreciate that sometimes you get what you pay for...and sheets are something I think I'm willing to pay for.

I had an amazing last week of camp. The girls serving the entire summer as interns invited me to "girl time" up in one of their rooms. Hattie (another staff member from KC) had been praying with a few of them throughout the month and one night they all invited me to just have some fun talking and being together. We stayed up til 12:15 am laughing and telling stories. Later that week I was invited to the last prayer time and was incredibly blessed by the prayers they offered on my behalf. It was obvious God was using them to affirm and encourage me in some of the struggles I'd been having all month. It was quite amazing to them that they could be so insightful in their prayers as they are fairly new to the practice of prophetic prayer. They really did speak to some very specific phrases I had been using in my head in my talks with God. It was a wonderful evening and I wish I could've spent more time with them. I'm really looking forward to getting to see them again when Harrisonville goes to Castaway for our camp trip later this summer.

When we first found out that we would be on assignment with a bunch of other people from the KC region I was a little disappointed. I had been looking forward to making new connections within the YL family. I've changed my tune. Brad and I have created incredible friendships with some people from our region that were just acquaintances prior to this month. It was a huge blessing to be there with familiar faces and get to dive deeper into who these people really are. I wouldn've have traded it for anything, and look forward to how our friendships will grow now that we're all back home. It's almost like college...life in close community...having everyone right there at your fingertips for conversation...sharing meals...sharing free time...sharing life. I miss some of them already.
